So a few days ago I ran a rogue killer scan and it found a malicious file so I decided to remove it. I then rebooted my laptop and opened up google chrome to a random site and I couldnt connect. It says "This site can't be reached". I later discovered that I can only connect to google owned sites such as youtube, google search. I have tried every scan imaginable (malwarebytes, rkill, tdsskiller, hitman pro, the list goes on) but i still have the same problem. I ran a farbar service scanner and it says

Localhost is accessible.

LAN connected.
Attempt to access Google IP returned error. Google IP is unreachable
Attempt to access Google.com returned error: Google.com is unreachable
Attempt to access Yahoo.com returned error: Yahoo.com is unreachable

Don't really know what to do at this point and I don't want to reinstall because I have a lot of stuff on my laptop. I will attach my roguekiller scan report and Farbar Service scan results below hopefully this gets resolved soon.

Please run the following steps and post back the logs as an attachment when ready.

STEP 01

  • If you don't have Malwarebytes 3 installed yet please download it from here and install it.
  • Once installed then open Malwarebytes and check for updates. Then click on the Scan tab and select Threat Scan and click on Start Scan button.
  • Once the scan is completed click on the Export Summary button and save the file as a Text file to your desktop or other location you can find, and attach that log on your next reply.

  • Press the Scan button.
  • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
  • The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). If you've, run the tool before you need to place a check mark here.

You have an old compromised version of Java. Please uninstall Java and if you really have to have it then make sure you keep it up to date and only get it from https://java.com

Okay, just noticed this in your logs.
Tweaking.com - Windows Repair Tray Icon

This to me is a last ditch repair when all other avenues of fixing the computer have failed. If you really have the means and time to do so I would highly recommend you back up your personal data and do a Factory Restore or Format and reinstall Windows. The fact that you've had to run this tool indicates the computer either has or has had extreme damage done to it.

I will try to assist you in fixing the computer if possible but please uninstall Tweaking and do not use tools like this except as a last resort.

For now, please temporarily uninstall all iObit software.

Please reconsider and stop using programs like Frostwire. These are Peer2Peer software packages really designed to steal software, both illegal and potentially dangerous to your system.

Please uninstall McAfee Security Scan Plus

You appear to be using some program to lock folder access. "Controlled Folder Access blocked" please temporarily disable that feature.

Please temporarily disable your RAM Disk.

Please uninstall RogueKiller

***************************************

Once you have completed the above, please run the repair below. Make sure you create a NEW System Restore Point

Please download the attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop.
NOTE. It's important that both files, FRST or FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on this particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system.

Run FRST or FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
If the tool needs a restart please make sure you let the system restart normally and let the tool complete its run after restart.
The tool will make a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please attach or post it to your next reply.

Note: If the tool warned you about an outdated version please download and run the updated version.

Thanks

Let's try resetting your router. There are corrupted files but without an Internet connection, it will be difficult to correct.

Please review the following website and read it before continuing and then do a Hard Reset back to Factory Defaults for your router.
This information is only for resetting the router DO NOT erase, install, or update the firmware, just reset your router to factory defaults.

Reset And Reboot

Hard reset or 30/30/30

Overall looks pretty good in the logs.

Create a new System Restore Point for the system. Also, make sure you're backing up your data.

Take care and have a great week
