If NordVPN is using the old Winsock LSP method of hooking into the network stack then yes, it would cause problems for Malwarebytes.

Thanks, Samuel. I know why some are having issues. This is the ONLY client I have out of all these years (surprisingly) that uses a VPN at all. I personally do not know the in's and out's of VPN's because I have not ever needed to "possibly" deal with one in the past. I have "warned" this client that there might be an issue and I could revert him back to the previous version if needed.

The point of my post was to find out if it is specifically known if Nord VPN is having issues with Malwarebytes. I was hoping to know before the client picked up the computer so we would not have to test it out before he goes out of the country on a trip.

Yeah, unfortunately I just don't know enough about NordVPN and can't recall if it's one of the ones users have reported issues with or not.  I just know that anything hooking into the Winsock seems to be the cause of the issues with MB3 not being able to contact the Malwarebytes validation servers and that such programs that use WFP don't cause the issue.

I did find this which seems to indicate that if configured manually, all a user needs to do is modify their DNS settings which shouldn't impact Malwarebytes at all, however I don't know if the same can be said for the native app (though if it works like Simple DNSCrypt, which also configures alternate DNS settings, then it does so without installing any LSPs and therefore would avoid the issue).

He has the computer now and I asked him to test it ASAP. We shall see. Thanks for the link. 👍
