Since the newest MALAWAREBYTES UPDATE my MS ESSENTIALS

Recommended Posts

It is better however it still continues to do it, if anything maybe not as much. It is the latest update to Malwarebytes, I am going to try uninstalling it and reinstalling the older Malwarebytes. It does affect the SINGLE small HP WE HAVE BECAUSE I never got to update it this started so quickly on the other two PCs.

topangack GOT THE SAME PROBLEM, I did not see your post I posted earlier tonight and have tried uninstalling MALWAREBYTES and going back BUT THAT ISN'T WORKING FOR US EITHER. I updated 2 of our PC and NOW BOTH KEEP SHUTTING DOWN MS ESSENTIALS. The ONE SINGLE PC I did not update is running just fine and MS ESSENTIALS IS NOT AFFECTED.

Hello @PA.Dutchman:

Malwarebytes staffers/developers will require specific data to begin a thorough analysis.

Please read the sticky at Having problems using Malwarebytes? Please follow these steps: and start at step #4.

Then, please attach the generated mbst-grab-results.zip archive file to your next reply to this topic.

Thank you.

Hello @holland and @topangajack:

As your observations may not impact all Malwarebytes 3.7.1.2839 users, please post the mbst-grab-results.zip archive file for those systems with similar symptoms.

Thank you.

Hello,

This issue is not being caused by Malwarebytes. The 1.289.1521.0 definition update released by Microsoft appears to be the cause.

The following screenshot is captured from a machine without any Malwarebytes software installed.

There are various other reports of this issue:

Microsoft will likely address this by reverting the update or releasing a fix.

LiquidTension - Thanks for the clarification. Since the problem is with Microsoft, I plan to restore my machine to a point prior to the faulty MS definition update, and temporarily turn off MSE auto scanning and updating. Hopefully MS will correct this soon.

Thanks!

You could also try running the following command from an elevated Command Prompt:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Security Client\mpcmdrun.exe" -RemoveDefinitions

This rolls back the current definition update to a previous version.

topangajack well stated! I have told this story before MANY YEARS ago I lived for my next issue of SMART COMPUTING, it is out of print for some years now. It had A GREAT FORUM with some GREAT techs who also came there from time to time. A couple of THE BEST ONES REALLY ENCOURAGED US NOVICES to subscribe to Malwarebytes. They explained it was not another ANTI VIRUS program and it provided protection from another source that could take our PC's down and out. IT IS ONE OF THE FEW TIMES IN MY 71+ YEARS I DID SOMETHING RIGHT AND SPENT MONEY FOR A GREAT PRODUCT. Now all these years later I still am thanking GOD that I listen to the great techs and then friends who really recommended MALWAREBYTES for our own good. All these years later what we were told and now I have seen or heard about people's nightmares who didn't have the protection Malwarebytes has provided our PC's with. Yes thank you AGAIN MALWAREBYTES and yes I have it on my Android phone and subscribed to it immediately no one had to convince me to get it for my Android phone. THANK YOU ALL INCLUDING EMPLOYEES, SUBSCRIPTORS, PROGRAMMERS AND ALL THOSE WHO COME HERE TO HELP not only novices but old folks like me now! GOD BLESS AND KEEP WELL.
