Very slow scans with newest Malwarebytes!

Because of the time taken so far, I assume you are doing a full custom scan. It is not needed. Threat scan is the recommended scan. Also the first scan will be longer due to file caching. future scans will be quicker.

Also a manual scan is designed by default to use max CPU and in doing so you can not do anything else during the scan. Single single core and dual core systems with standard hard drives will also take more time.

I am offering this advice as I am also repair shop and have used Malwarebytes for the last 10 years. You might want to add ADWcleaner to your clean up routine and clear all temp files before you scan.

Hi Porthos
In fact it took over 12hours to complete!
Issue here is that the scan settings are the same as we have always used, but the time it takes has hugely increased

Normally our basic routine is JRT, ADWcleaner, MBam, (although allegedly MBam now incorporates, their other utilities!), then if needed SuperMultiWotsit, and finally Panda Cloud Cleaner, quick check on browser extensions, Search engines etc and thats it.

This machine looked clean (and was), so just left it doing the scan, its not an urgent job, today upgrade to Windows 10 1903,  remove the Windows junk, mail, groove etc, add Panda endpoint (in this case) and jobs done.
BUT the Malwebytes times are a problem where jobs are urgent, particularly as over many years of use we have found this to be the cleanup tool of choice, now we are looking around, and not just at the cleaning aspect.

We find their resale products also falling behind, especially in terms of customer ownership, and are increasingly placing business elsewhere, which is a shame as they have been the best at remediation for so long.

I assume that was not a standard threat scan. If it was, It must have been a slow e-1 AMD with 4 gig ram and a typical 5400 rpm drive

ADWCleaner is not incorporated in to MB. And JRT has been discontinued.

Sorry you feel that way and you have every right to use a different product. Best wishes in your future choices.

As a former PC repair tech with several years experience, including using Malwarebytes as part of my regular cleanup routine, I would highly recommend sticking to the Threat scan and if the user has a tendency to save downloaded files in an odd location such as a secondary drive, just right-click scan that location with Malwarebytes using the option in Explorer if you're worried about it (but generally speaking, if a user brings in a system for a malware/PUP problem, it's really the active threats you need to be concerned with, not so much the dormant installers they might have stored elsewhere on their system which aren't active/installed; you can consult them on staying clean in the future and that should be sufficient to prevent them from getting infected by those, especially if you sell them on something like Malwarebytes Premium or even simply recommend that install it themselves and scan their PC with the free version regularly to check for threats).

As you read in the other posts, It is recommended to only do threat scans. I would suggest cleaning temp files and if laptop, be plugged in to power.  Also during a manual scan, Do not try do do anything else while scan is running.

Then im *****ed because threat/ individual now  doesn't find anything still im spam/botting.... My hope was that a full scan by malwarebytes would locate where/what the issues is. Yes, have ccleaned all the extras, removed windows.old as suggested in many forums, removed all extra sofwares and let the computer scan overnight and all day today. After 20 hours, not a millions files scanned and i think i have about 7 millions...

I don't have illegal software, i update daily windows, its antivirus, don't open spam emails, ... ran Deferender full scan, nothing found, ran ***** load of scanning including Malwarebytes and adwcleaner, nothing...

the day after this past Tuesday update, i notice my bandwidth going crazy. Downloaded bandwidth monitor pro and noticed that over 7 gig went upload and downloaded in 24 hours ( i have disable windows peers sharing), i wasn't sure which program was doing all that upload/download... so i installed peerblock and purchased license for a year. that is when i started to see these blocked connections showing up as soon as i connect to wifi.
