Google may not break ad blockers after all!

I previously voiced my concern over the future of the Malwarebytes browser extension after learning of Google's plans to change and drastically limit what browser extensions in Chrome can do, which was reportedly going to render many existing ad blocking extensions non-functional for the browser, and while I was assured that Malwarebytes already had a plan to address the upcoming change, I've now learned that Google has decided to back off its previous stance on this issue following all the negative backlash they received from avid ad block users and extension developers.

You can read more about this exciting development in this article.

Color me not surprised; I knew they'd follow through on this crap eventually somehow; they're way too dependent on ads to continue allowing the use of ad blockers, not to mention all the tracking that gets blocked by these add-ons, and Google, just like Microsoft and so many others these days, depends on mass data collection for their business model.

I'm using SRWare Iron so hopefully they won't implement this change in their version of Chromium (I suspect they will not if they can avoid it since the entire reason Iron exists in the first place is to provide an alternative to Chrome without the built in tracking and advertising).  If not, I guess I'll have to switch to something else like maybe Opera or something.  I block a lot of stuff with my HOSTS file and other tools outside the browser, but I do still depend on my add-ons to block a lot of the ads, trackers and other unwanted content so I won't do without it if I can help it.

That's why i've bought a lifetime license of AdGuard for Windows, since it's a program which blocks ads globally on Windows, not only in the browsers, and, in this way, all Google efforts to avoid adblocking will be useless 😊
