Greetings,

There was a change in the latest version of Malwarebytes to make it compatible with the ELAM (Early Launch Antimalware) feature in Windows 10 which for the moment has made it impossible to activate the software when any third party components are installed as Winsock providers such as any kind of proxy or VPN.  If you have any such tool(s) installed please try removing them temporarily and then restarting your system to see if you are then able to activate Malwarebytes.  If you are successful then unfortunately it means that you will have to keep the third party VPN/proxy removed until a fixed version of Malwarebytes is released or roll back to the previous version of Malwarebytes which is available here, otherwise the issue will occur again, likely any time Malwarebytes starts up or tries to check for updates.

If that was not the issue please let us know and we will investigate further.

Thanks

Wow, that's certainly one way to fix an issue.  As long as it's working, there's nothing wrong with that; I guess as a bonus your system will run like new now.

Hopefully doing your Windows Updates etc. won't take too long (the new cumulative updates Microsoft has been doing lately should help with that, thankfully).

Anyway, if the issue returns or if there is anything else we might assist you with please don't hesitate to let us know.

Thanks

Lol ya thankfully it was a fairly new PC build, so I didnt ha e ti much stuff on it.. I just figured it would be easier just to do a fresh windows Install, rather then stressing out about why malware bytes wont work hahaha.. hey I have a faster computer now..it worked out great

guess what - I have a VPN and just saw the previous post. Why was that not tested? At least remove the update until it is fixed instead of giving people problems? That is pretty bad.

Hi lalala,

We test Malwarebytes compatibility with a lot of different third-party software, environments, hardware, etc. Unfortunately, it's not possible to test every type of software or configuration - especially third-party software using deprecated/legacy practices that Microsoft recommends against.

We are currently investigating potential ways of addressing the issue. Thank you for your patience.
