Move Malwarebytes To Amazon AppStore?

Recommended Posts

Re. Google’s recent degrading of Malwarebytes, might it be to the advantage of Malwarebytes the company, to move the Malwarebytes app for Android to the Amazon AppStore? Or would Amazon be equally restrictive?

I forgot to mention that Google restricts a couple of Pro Features of NetGuard the NoRoot Firewall for Android, but the work-around is to get NetGuard from github. Not tryin’ to advertise here - just saying.

We do have a version of the software on Amazon, but the user base there is much smaller. We also can't distribute our app through a website, as sideloading apps is a potentially dangerous activity that we advise against. It would be a bit hypocritical to advise against it, but require our users to do it. :)

Hi treed and thanks for the info. Is the amazon App Store version as constrained as the Google version is?

Thanks. - Alan (Retired Happy Dog)

I'd say that it's differently constrained. We've had our share of issues with the Amazon store as well.

The MalwareBytes team could put an unrestricted version of the app inside of the MalwareBytes Windows client, and allow the user to manage the sideload that way.

Since it would be through a secure channel, it wouldn't be anywhere near as dangerous as grabbing it from a website.
