ATT HVPL PUP warning.

Recommended Posts

I keep getting a Android/PUP.HackTool.DeviceAlive.a threat from ATT HVPL. io.ismconnect.att.devicealive

What is it for? Should I delete it?

Under my app info it says it's disabled.

I haven't been able to find much with my basic googling and searching these forums, so I thought I would ask in case anyone else has the same question.

Other info from the scan:   /system/carrier/priv-app/RetailMode_hvpl_ATT/RetailMode_hvpl_ATT.apk

Completely separate issue.

Are there any other ATT apps I should disable or remove?  I've disabled ATT Mobiile Security.  I can't disable ATT Remote Support.  ATT Protech is the only other one I know about.

Hi @Acula,

Odd that ATT would have this installed as a system app.  Even under its description in Google Play it states, Do not install this on your device unless you are an AT&T representative and have obtained the password required to open the application.  The application is designed to run continuously until uninstalled and will drain the battery.

Since it's disabled, you can just ignore.  However, if you want to uninstall for current user (details in link below):

https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/216616-removal-instructions-for-adups/

Warning: Make sure to read Restoring apps onto the device (without factory reset) in the rare case you need to revert/restore app.

Use this/these command(s) during step 7 under Uninstalling Adups via ADB command line to remove:

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 io.ismconnect.att.devicealive

I probably wouldn't worry about the other ATT apps, but when you use command adb shell pm list packages -f, you'll be able to see all the ATT apps (anything with "att" in the package name).
