cannot scan, already uninstalled and reinstalled

Normally, both those things indicate that you don't have Internet connectivity. But if you posted to the Forum from that Mac, we can rule that out.

It's also possible that there is an issue with the Malwarebytes server that verifies your subscription and / or updates your malware database, in which case you can only wait for service to be available again.

If you using some sort of 3rd party firewall software (e.g. Little Snitch, Hands Off or LuLu) make sure that Malwarebytes has all connectivity needs enabled.
