BSOD with latest regular and beta update

After years of running smoothly, I belive Malwarebytes has been causing my BSOD with error message inacessable boot drive.

I literally can do nothing to get back into windows at this point.  I have to use a system backup and restore my entire hard drive.  

After doing a disk image restore on my PC I keep Malwarebytes running and It updates.  I reset the PC and all over again the same bsod.

I then installed your latest beta that was released today Jan 30, 2019 and that too causes the same bsod.

Can you help me with this?

I'm doing an entire fresh install of Windows because of this and I'm afraid to install Malwarebytes as my anti malware software.

If need be and you need some logs, before I install malwarebytes I can do another system image so if malwarebytes causing the bsod infinite loop bsod I can always go back using the system image.

Just let me know if you need logs and how and where to get the programs that collect the logs.

If you haven’t already done so, please run the Malwarebytes Support Tool and then attach the logs in your next reply:

NOTE: The tools and the information obtained is safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Once the file is downloaded, open your Downloads folder/location of the downloaded file
  3. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  4. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  5. You will be presented with a page stating, "Get Started!"
  6. Click the Advanced tab

  7. Click the Gather Logs button

  8. A progress bar will appear and the program will proceed with getting logs from your computer

  9. Upon completion, click a file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop. Click OK

  10. Please attach the file in your next reply. Before submitting your reply, be sure to enable "Notify me of replies" like so:

Hi David,

Please provide the log file mentioned in the post above. Instructions on how to generate it are provided.

We will also need a dump file to confirm if Malwarebytes is indeed the cause.

  • %systemroot%\MEMORY.dmp
  • Contents of the %systemroot%\Minidump folder


If MEMORY.dmp is not being generated after the blue screen, let me know and I'll provide instructions on how to enable creation.
