Legitimate MWB Download URL?

Recommended Posts

The download links on the MWB Troubleshooting page all link to a location on zingtree.com. Is this a legitimate source for your troubleshooting/support tool?

Hello @lazykins:

It would be quite helpful if you could reply with the exact URL of the page that redirected you to zingtree.  Multiple reasons exist for arriving at that site.

A high integrity download URL for the current Malwarebytes Support Tool (MBST) file is:

https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mbst

The resultant downloaded executable file (currently mb-support-1.3.1.553.exe) may be analyzed by VirusTotal.com where its hashes and digital signing must exactly match:

https://www.virustotal.com/file/0c1f49863b81b6bceb1e58c2c57cce8b741c0e506e69f84908cec85cb9bb86b3/analysis/1545451435/

Additionally, an equally high integrity download URL for the current version of the consumer version of the Malwarebytes 3 (MB3) installer file is:

https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb3

Similarly as above, the installer executable file (currently mb3-setup-consumer-3.6.1.2711-1.0.508-1.0.8211.exe) will render a Virus Total analysis only at:

https://www.virustotal.com/file/af12578645860356314df51f2aa4dfebe750806c6655772a26c0667feaec927e/analysis/1545506965/

Thank you.

Hello @lazykins:

I'll pass this to a staffer when they get back next week.  This is likely a legitimate support addition and was not widely publicized.

For now, I believe you can rest easy.

Thank you.

Hello @lazykins and thank you for the feedback. This is a new decision tree our Support Team is testing to help improve on the time taken to provide users with help.

The links are safe to use and thank you for noticing and acting wisely and asking. If there is anything else I can assist you with please let me know.

Thank you again and Happy Holidays
