Microsoft Excel & Word Problem

Recommended Posts

The same thing happened to me this morning. I chatted with MS and after running the repair Office tool (didn't work) the next thing they asked was if I was running Malwarebytes. And if I was, they suggested disabling it until MWB fixes whatever it is it's trying to do.

I need Office more than MWB right now, so hopefully you people can fix it quickly.

Hello @rajones007

It looks like this might not be an Anti-Exploit issue.
Something's up with the system configuration.Could be from a recent Windows update too.

Refer this https://www.kapilarya.com/the-operating-system-is-not-presently-configured-to-run-this-application

Can you download the mb-support tool from https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mbst.

Run the tool/ Go to Advanced options and run Clean. This will cleanup your existing Malwarebytes product and will perform a clean install.

Can you please let us know if you continue to experience the same issue after a clean reinstall of MB3 ?

Thank you.

Didn't run your software, but on Thursday I had to fix a clients laptop. Long story short, I ended up just doing a reinstall of Windows. Which then ran fine.

Then I installed Office 2013 (Word,Excel) on the same laptop and it does the same thing. "The Operating System is not presently configured for this application" and I have to stop exploit protection to run it.

Oops. I forgot to say that after I had Office installed, updated, and working, THEN I  installed MBAM (the current free version on the download page), updated it, ran a scan, then tried to run Excel and Word.

Until this issue is resolved you should be able to just disable the individual shields for your MS Office applications to allow them to run that way you still have Exploit Protection active for your other programs and system components (especially important for your web browsers).  You'll find instructions on how to do this in this post.
