Unable to Turn On Real Time Protection Version 3.6.1

I get a pop up that says Real Time Protection is Turned Off.  I have Malwarebytes Premium vs. 3.6.1.  The pop-up has a button to click 'Turn On Now'.  I did that and it does not turn on.  The pop-up reappeared several times during the day and clicking 'Turn On Now' does nothing.  I open Malwarebytes up directly.  There is a radio button for Malware Protection and it is off.  It does not respond when I click on it to turn it on.  I clicked on 'Manage Protection Settings' button and a new window appears and there it is again:  'Malware Protection:  Prevents Malware Infections'  is slid to off.  I click on it to turn it on and nothing happens.  What do I do.  My subscription is current and was renewed Oct 2018.  I ran a scan and it found no issues.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.

If you haven’t already done so, please run the Malwarebytes Support Tool and then attach the logs in your next reply:

  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Once the file is downloaded, open your Downloads folder/location of the downloaded file
  3. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  4. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  5. You will be presented with a page stating, "Get Started!"
  6. Click the Advanced tab

  7. Click the Gather Logs button

  8. A progress bar will appear and the program will proceed with getting logs from your computer

  9. Upon completion, click a file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop. Click OK

  10. Please attach the file in your next reply. Before submitting your reply, be sure to enable "Notify me of replies" like so:

Greetings,

I'm sorry the software is malfunctioning, but hopefully we can get the issue resolved quickly and get your protection back up and running.

To start, please try performing a repair install of the software by downloading and installing the latest version of the software over the top of your existing installation from here and then restart your system and check to verify that it is now working properly.  It's a simple thing, but can often fix issues, especially if it is being caused by something like a missing or corrupt Malwarebytes file which is certainly one possible cause for a problem like this.

If that fails to resolve it, then please proceed with a clean installation by following the instructions below:

  1. Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Accept the EULA and click Advanced tab on the left (not Start Repair)
  3. Click the Clean button, and allow it to restart your system and then reinstall Malwarebytes, either by allowing the tool to do so when it offers to on restart, or by downloading and installing the latest version from here

If the problem still persists then please do the following so that we may take a closer look at your Malwarebytes installation and hopefully determine what the problem is and correct it:

  1. Run the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Accept the EULA and click Advanced tab on the left (not Start Repair)
  3. Click the Gather Logs button, and once it completes, attach the zip file it creates on your desktop to your next reply

Please let us know how it goes, and if necessary, please provide the requested ZIP file from the Support Tool.

Excellent, I'm glad to hear it :) !

It most likely was just a driver, database or settings file that got corrupted during an update.  It shouldn't happen often but sometimes these things have temporary hiccups when trying to change or replace files and an over-the-top install usually fixes it.
