16th December 2018

I have installed Malwarebytes Premium 3.6.1 on 4/12/18 on a Win 7 Home Premium (64) desktop.

In recent days I notice that after about 15 minutes browsing on IE Explorer  (or Chrome or Firefox) is blocked with the message

"This site can't be reached. www.google.ie took too long to respond"

All sites however are blocked.

Microsoft Outlook allows email to download, but will not allow associated pictures to download.

If I go into Malwarebytes /Protection/Real-Time Protection and turn off "Web Protection" browsing is immediately restored.

All scans with Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials are clean.

I did nt experience this with Malwarebytes during the first few days after installation - this has begun only 2-3 days ago.

How do I solve this problem please?

Hello, Welcome to Malwarebytes.
I'm nasdaq and will be helping you.

If you can please print this topic it will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps in the order listed.
===

Please download the attached Fixlist.txt file to  the same folder where the Farbar tool is running from.
The location is listed in the 3rd line of the FRST.txt log you have submitted.

Run FRST and click Fix only once and wait.

The tool will create a log (Fixlog.txt) please post it to your reply.
===

When completed reset Internet Explorer:
Menu > Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab.
Click the Reset button on the bottom of the pane.
Click the Apply button.
Close IE.

Let me know if the problem persists.

Hi,

Did all that was requested including downloading diagnostic applications from linked third-party sites.

I did not ask you to download any diagnostic application. Was that from your ISP?

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from here

  • Right-click on the MBAM icon and select Run as administrator to run the tool.
  • Click Yes to accept any security warnings that may appear.
  • Once the MBAM dashboard opens, on the right detail pane click on the word "Current" under the Scan Status to update the tool database.
  • On the left menu pane click the Settings tab, and then select the Protection tab on the top.
  • Under the Scan Options, turn on the button Scan for rootkits and Scan within archives.
  • Click the Scan tab on the right detail pane, select Threat Scan and click the Start Scan button
  • Note: The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
  • If potential threats are detected, ensure to check mark all the listed items, and click the Quarantine Selected button.
  • While still on the Scan tab, click the View Report button, and in the window that opens click the Export button, select Text file (*.txt), and save the log to your Desktop.
  • The log can also be viewed by clicking the log to select it, then clicking the View Report button.

Please post the log for my review.

Note: If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.
===
Run the Farbar program one more time and post fresh FRST.TXt and Addition.txt logs for my review.
To create a new Addition.txt log make sure the box to create the file is checked.

By diagnostic I meant the FRST64.exe from www.bleepingcomputer.com which is where your link leads to.

browser redirect seems to be sorted.

However the original problem whereby after a few hours browsing on IE Explorer  (or Chrome or Firefox) internet access to all sites is blocked  with the message

"This site can't be reached. www.google.ie took too long to respond"

All sites are blocked. If I go into Malwarebytes /Protection/Real-Time Protection and turn off "Web Protection" browsing is immediately restored.

All scans with Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials are clean. So my problem is not solved.

Is this an incompatability with MSSE or the browsers generally?
