AdwCleaner not deleting PUP Ask Jeeves

After discussions with staff in the "Malware Removal Help & Support" forum proved fruitless, I was advised to post the issue in this forum instead.

Ref:

The basic issue is that AdwCleaner scans always detect PUP.Optional.Legacy -> Chrome Search Provider -> Ask Jeeves, and then the removal process always fails.

The cleaner log file is as follows:

Thanks, but the very first line of my original posting was:
Firstly, let me be clear that I have followed the instructions in the pinned post "Chrome Secure Preferences detection always comes back" but they didn't resolve the issue. 

What I want the developers to tell me is why the AdwCleaner persistently (and erroneously?) reports seeing "Ask Jeeves", when there is absolutely no sign of it in the actual Chrome settings.

The developer says there is an issue with the Chrome module we use that can lead to errors when removing items and it's likely what's happening here. They will work on a fix for this in a future build.

Thank you for the coming back to me with this information.

Should I interpret this 'bug' as indicating that:
1) There is a PUP ("Ask Jeeves") that needs removing, but AdwCleaner can't remove it?
or 
2) There's no actual PUP to remove, and it is simply the AdwCleaner PUP detection message which is erroneous?

My guess would be that it's a FP if you're unable to locate it within Chrome
