BUT I've got malware popups when I start Google Chrome. This started about 4 days ago when I was downloading a Netgear app. Malwarebytes flagged the site but I got qpdownload.com ads anyway. I ran MwareBytes again and it said clean. Then I downloadced AdwCleaner and it cleaned up over 60 items but left 2 that it couldn't get: PUP.Optional.MySearch and PUP.Optional.Legacy.

I got rid of one by deleting a google extension in the registry but am still getting hit. My question is - why is Mwarebytes not detecting/cleaning/quarantining/something these? I pay for Premium but am wondering why? Program is set to scan the registry and everything else so I don't understand why there are no hits. Can you explain this?

Log (initial scan) attached.

Thanks in advance -

Pat

FYI - I was able to eradicate the 2 straggling PUPs. Found the google extensions in the registry that looked questionable and deleted them. Voila! No more pop ups when I launch Chrome.

But I still want to know why Mwarebytes is not picking these up. Am I not configured correctly? Help.

If you are using the Sync function to other Devices it may just be that is the reason they were not removed.

It's too late now to find out the exact cause.

Next time give us a chance to check your computer before removing anything from the registry.

Stay Safe.
