So AV TEST release the latest test results for windows 10

https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/windows-10/october-2018/

Though Malwarebytes scored good points but still it scored lowest of all others vendors in terms of detection.

But still the malwarebytes seems to be a strong and robust protection software but according to me there is still a need of main Antimalware solution to be used alongside malwarebytes.

Well talking about PUP, there is another antimalware Eset which is as harsh as malwarebytes in detection of PUP and in my own testing better than malwarebytes in PUP detection. SO for me Eset is a complete protection software, but still I use malwarebytes for malicious website blocking since Eset is poor at that.

@dcollins thanks for the link devin, was not aware of that.

But from reading the topic I came to know about the way malwarebytes work. It is written that "We mostly rely on other methods, such as hardening, application behavior, and vector blocking defenses that disrupt malware earlier in the attack chain" .This is not only true with malwarebytes, even all other vendors, some of the best in the market like bitdefender, kaspersky, norton and many more also utilize the same technology in their own ways.

That said there should be some sort of test regarding this category. I will try to get in contact with av test if they will plan to improve in the way they are detecting the malware which is currently limited to signature based.

Yes, that's very true.  As malware has changed over the past 10 or so years, security vendors have been forced to adapt in order to remain effective, though Malwarebytes was among the first in the industry to pioneer and integrate many of these technologies and remains one of the best at deflecting certain types of attacks.

Even Microsoft, at least in Windows 10, has adopted new measures to focus more on such alternate attack vectors such as exploits and ransomware through hardening and behavior based detection/protection.  I believe as time goes on that all vendors who survive will be forced to adopt such methods because the more traditional, reactionary approach is insufficient against today's threats, which often change from one download to the next and use rotating scripts and URLs, altering their behavior each time a user comes across them, and often not even attempting to infect the same user twice with the same attack on the same domain (to better evade threat researchers and avoid detection more easily).
