Researchers Created Fake 'Master' Fingerprints to Unlock Smartphones

Bummer, though I'm not a fan of the use of biometric security anyway.  I prefer my machines not be able to identify me as an individual, be it via my fingerprints, facial features, iris patterns, vocal pattern, blood type, DNA, keystroke typing patterns or anything else which is unique to me as a person.  Such things pose grave risks to privacy in the future as corporations and governments seek greater insight through the use of AI technologies like Machine Learning, especially for the kinds of identifiers which are less voluntary or obvious to a human being (such as typing patterns, usage patterns, activity schedules, entertainment preferences, news preferences etc.).

Big Data is big business, but poses great risks to anyone who doesn't wish to be treated like a commodity.
