If you are having technical issues with our Windows product, please do the following:

If you haven’t already done so, please run the Malwarebytes Support Tool and then attach the logs in your next reply:

NOTE: The tools and the information obtained is safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  • Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • Once the file is downloaded, open your Downloads folder/location of the downloaded file
  • Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  • Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  • You will be presented with a page stating, "Welcome to the Malwarebytes Support Tool!"
  • Click the Advanced Options link

  • Click the Gather Logs button

  • A progress bar will appear and the program will proceed to gather troubleshooting information from your computer
  • Upon completion, click OK
  • A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  • Please attach the file in your next reply. Before submitting your reply, be sure to enable "Notify me of replies" like so:

Yes tried that. Tried the chat thingy but nobody available to talk with. Was locked out of my account so couldn't log in to "Find my premium license key".

However, after lots faffing about with passwords and email addresses I realised I was trying to log in to my account with the wrong email. Doh. Problem solved.

However one problem does still persist. One that happens every time there is an update for this program - namely that you seem to lose the option of scanning from the context menu. I've moaned about this before but it is still present. The only way I know of correcting this bug is doing a clean install. Is there another way to reclaim the function of the context menu??

The following should solve the issue:

  1. Reboot the computer
  2. Open Malwarebytes
  3. Navigate to Settings -> Application
  4. Turn off the option for Context Menu scanning
  5. Turn on the option for Context Menu scanning

You should be able to right click scan. We are aware of the issue and are trying to work on a seamless solution that doesn't involve forcing a reboot at the moment
