I apologize for the delay, I was on vacation and unfortunately this thread got lost in the shuffle. Our developers have identified the root cause, but there is no workaround currently available. For now, please continue using 3.5.1 as you are and once a new version is available, we can reach out to let you know.

Did you mean the issue will be solved in the next BIG update (3.6.2)? Or will it be handled in a intermediate update (mb3-setup-consumer-3.6.1.27xx)?

Thanks for the follow up, and sorry I forgot to reply earlier this week. This should be fixed in our latest release. You can download it from https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb3 and install it over the top of your existing installation

I installed the update but it did NOT help. The service is still stating and stopping

Hello @bart1946,

We've just released a new beta version of Malwarebytes.

Are you interested in giving this a try? We'd love to hear how you get on this this version and if you still experience the same issue or not. To install this beta version, please refer to the steps below.

  • Open Malwarebytes and click Settings followed by the Application tab.
  • Scroll down to Beta Application Updates and turn the option On.
  • Click OK when prompted.
  • Scroll back up and click Install Application Updates.
