Trojan:Script/Cloxer.A!cl

My computer is running very slowly and the Windows Defender notification keeps coming up every few minutes stating there is Trojan:Script/Cloxer.A!cl threat detected even after removing it several times.

I ran Malwarebytes scan and no threat was found.

Affected files from Windows Defender shows threat was found in Malwarebytes data.

Sample file:

file: C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService\MwacDetections\c62e9d60-10ae-11e8-af76-e0d55e0811b6.json

All the threats were in the same directory with different files extensions names.

Please advise how do I fix this.

Thanks.

Robbie

Hello roblow8 and welcome to Malwarebytes,

The MWAC detections folder is basically a list of detections which were blocked by Malwarebytes over time in use, those files cannot be removed but are harmless to your system. I suppose the only way to delete them would be to make a clean install of Mawarebytes using their specific clean up tool.

Regards,

Kevin..

Hiya Robbie,

Two options, make clean install of Malwarebytes so all folders and files are deleted, then Malwarebytes is cleanly installed.

Download the latest version of MB-Clean by clicking this link: https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb_clean save to your Desktop, or a folder of your choice.

  • Close all open applications
  • Double-click and run mb-clean.exe
  • A prompt with an option to clean up the system will appear:

Yes - will proceed with backing up the license key (Malwarebytes 3.x only) and initiating the cleanup process. (Recommended)
No - will exit the utility

Once the cleanup process is completed, a prompt will appear:

Yes – will proceed and post reboot you will be prompted to continue with the downloading, installation and activation of latest version of Malwarebytes 3.x (Recommended)
No – will exit the utility and you will not be prompted (post reboot) to download, reinstall and re-activate (Not Recommended)

We recommend rebooting immediately. Additionally, stopping at this step is not recommended and will most likely not resolve your issue(s).

Upon reboot, a prompt will appear:

Yes - will download, install and activate the latest version of Malwarebytes 3.x (Recommended)
No - will exit the utility and the cleanup process is complete...

A log file ("mb-clean-results.txt") will be on your desktop

Or add MwacDetections as an exclusion to Windows Defender.. Or,

Add this folder " C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService\MwacDetections" as an exclusion in Windows Defender...

Select > Start > Settings > Updates & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Virus & threat protection settings > Add or remove exclusions

Thanks,

Kevin
