Dashboard scan detections tally higher than reported in scans

Recommended Posts

Malwarebytes 3.5.1.2522 dashboard tally of scan detections was 3 (the three files were a false positive on a Roxio.exe file last month), until about 3 days ago when it changed to 4.

But none of my scan reports showed any threats identified after the false positive mentioned above.  I checked all scan reports on the computer, and there is no 4th threat identified in a scan.  Help?  I am definitely looking at the tally of "scan detections," not real-time protections.

I've opened a support ticket on this, but haven't heard back yet.

Thanks for any input.

Greetings,

My only hypothesis would be that perhaps the data got corrupted or mixed up somewhere that is being read by the Dashboard component and that it is either interpreting the data incorrectly or counting one of the real-time detections as a scan detection.  Also keep in mind that if an item is scanned more than once, even though it is the same object, each time it is detected counts towards scan detections so if you were to right-click and use the "Scan with Malwarebytes" function in Explorer's context menu for files and folders to scan an item that Malwarebytes detects, it will add that detection to the total number of scan detections (though it should also create a log as well of course).

The instructions above detail how to provide the log file as a zip so you can attach it here. You created a ticket, which means our support teams will have to look at your ticket to get the logs. Can you gather the logs using the steps above and then attach the zip file in your reply? We should be able to reply sooner that way

Hi Devin,

Thanks for your reply. :)  Just read the logs, and I see they don't contain info that in itself is sensitive.
But I"d rather not put the names of all files/folders I've created/modified in the last month on the forum.

So I guess I'll have to wait for the support team.

If you can let anyone know, I'd be willing to pay for more support from Malwarebytes.
