Another Week Another MB3 Failure

Recommended Posts

Yet again, out of nowhere I get a pop-up saying realtime protection is disabled and eventually I see MBAM.exe is crashing in QT5CORE.DLL.

Since I have an old Visual Studio 6 installed (don't ask!) I see the stack trace and I think it shows that QT5SML is calling down to QT5CORE so I'm assuming perhaps yet again Malwarebytes has paused a badly formed SML file during an update.

/sigh

Guess like last time I'll have to wait for a fix .. can we put an end to these app-breaking updates pease?

Sorry you ran into trouble there.

We'd be more than happy to help, if you change your mind.

Do you happen to recall whether you had received the latest component package version update?  We released v. 1.0.441 last week and it addressed a number of issues related to Qt errors.  The latest full version of Malwarebytes 3.5.1 available for download from our main website has this latest component package already bundled in, if you care to try test it out.

The version I had had been running since I had to re-install not long ago due to another bad update breaking it with a previous QT5 screw-up .. I have no idea what version was running, it would have been the latest that was available, I allowed it to update itself with whatever updates you provided it to update itself .. like I say, I'm convinced you served a bad update that caused it to crash it repeatedly whenever I tried to restart it.

[edit]

This was the last installer I ran:  mb3-setup-consumer-3.5.1.2522-1.0.421-1.0.6421  dated 21 August

There has been one component update since the version you list there.  The current version info is shown below:

update.png.d5af9130265f4b3192363f8b00745309.png

There was an issue with component package 1.0.421 which was causing occasional corruption during installation which would result in program crashes/errors that sound similar to what you describe (usually with an error message about one or more files missing) so that may be what you encountered.  The latest build which may be downloaded here shouldn't have this problem and you should be able to just download and install it over the top of your existing installation.  If the issues persist then please let us know.

Thanks
