Possible false positive - VLC

Recommended Posts

Today I got an exploit blocked error on the update for VLC.  Is this a real exploit threat or a false positive?

Thanks,
Bill

Same thing here when trying to let VLC update itself.  I downloaded the VLC install program from the VLC website, scanned it with MBAM which said it was OK, and manually upgraded with no problems.  I think MBAM is somehow seeing the automatic upgrade process as an exploit.

Here's the log from the exploit action:

@ronzie009

I tried to download the file and the site was blocked by the MB Chrome browser extension.  I've reported that as well.  I'll just wait until someone addresses the problem here.

Thanks,
Bill

I was just able to update to VLC version 3.0.4 using the "check for updates" function within VLC.  It downloaded and installed fine and I am able to run it now.

Thanks,
Bill
