License activated too many times?

Recommended Posts

a couple of days ago MBAM switched from premium mode to "free" mode. knowing that my license is still valid, I was forced to put the issue aside for a few days to deal with other stuff.

so, today I opened the saved email that had my license key in it, and I entered the info into MBAM. but when I hit the activate key, MBAM complained I had activated the program on too many devices. I went to the my.malwarebytes.com website and logged to see what was going on. there were only two devices registered for my 3 license subscription, but there were 0 licenses available. there was my mom's laptop, and my dads surface pro,  but my pc was not listed. yet there was no licenses available. I eventually bit the bullet and de-activated all other devices, which did indeed free up all three licenses, but now I have to go to each device and re activate them. There will be a problem if this sort of thing happens again. has anyone ever heard of this type of thing happening before?

Greetings,

I don't recall ever hearing of a situation like this.  Usually what I have heard are situations where someone reinstalls Windows on the same system and activates the software again, eventually resulting in them receiving that message and having to contact Support to get their number of activations/devices reset.

If you do encounter a problem like this again then the Support team should be able to resolve it as they have direct access to the licensing and activation system.  You may contact them via the options found on this page.

If there's anything else we might assist you with please don't hesitate to let us know.

Thanks

ok thanks. I may have hit the "big red button" prematurely. should it occur again, I will let MBAM support handle the issue. looking at the recent forum posts, there are a few other people who may or may not be dealing with a similar issue. I don't know how widely known the my.malwarebytes.com site is to registered MBAM users, but it seems to be the main way to go for license and activation server side issues (for the most part). I discovered when I went to reactivate my dads surface pro's copy of MBAM that you can actually activate MBAM for a device directly from the website. much better than having to enter the id and key manually

Yes, ideally my.malwarebytes.com is the way to go, but often times when a key is showing too many activations (especially on the same device), it requires Support to intervene and reset the system for your license or modify the activations manually.  Also, just in case you were not aware, you can access that page through the main Malwarebytes UI under the My Account button at the top of the main Malwarebytes UI or through the Settings>Account Details tab (both take you to the same page of the UI).  From there if you click on the Go to My Account button it will take you to that site so that you may login and manage your licenses/activations.
