Been using the well-known Calibre E-Book software, along with MBAM, for years. Today, MBAM picked it up as ransomware - has it been infected, or it this a false positive?

Hi,

We would need the sample in order to verify if this one is infected or not.

Can you zip and attach C:\Program Files\Calibre2\calibre.exe to your next post please?

Thanks!

Edited to add - I also suggest you update to the latest component updates, as that fixes a lot already.

To do so, please go to settings > Application and enable: "Notify me when full version updates are available" + Click the "Install Application Updates" in order to get latest.

Thanks.

I see this was a false positive indeed and has been fixed since last friday already. It's weird it still shows as detected as of today, so this might because of the Component Updates where you are a little behind.

In case it's still detected after doing the above (updating), please Quit malwarebytes from the systemtray.
Then navigate to the following folder:

C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService

In there, locate the file HubbleCache and delete it.

Restart Malwarebytes again. A new Hubblecache will then be created again, so it will properly pick it up and remember to not detect this anymore.
