I'm at work right now using my work computer and I didn't have time to get on the forum site from home. I always have to close the pop up box that is always on my screen every morning letting me know a new version of Malwarebytes is available (it pops up all the time and I hate it! does this while I'm using my computer and wish it would stop!) I click it off and another box pops up to let me know that a scan has been run and no threats. This morning the scan box wasn't there for me to click off which worried me. I then try to open Malwarebytes and it won't open no matter how many times I click onto it. I assume I've gotten some virus that is now affecting Malwarebytes which shouldn't happen but has. So why am I paying for Malwarebytes anti-virus that clearly isn't stopping the virus and has now prevented Malwarebytes to open? Isn't this what Malwarebytes if for? How can I get it to open on my home computer so that I can run a scan and get rid of the virus? Oh, and is there a way to keep that annoying "new version" of Malwarebytes pop up box from popping up every 20 minutes?

Hello and Welcome...

I am assuming your asking about your home computer, is so continue on with the instructions below (if this is your work computer contact your admin for an upgrade)

The popup is asking you to update to the latest version... Are you not wanting to update to the latest version?  Since your Malwarebytes is having problems opening, then I suggest you go and simply download the latest version and install it right over the top of the existing version.  This should correct the issue with it not opening and getting rid of the New Version message (at least till another version comes out).

Download the Latest MB3 v3.5.1.2522 CU 1.0.391 from ->>RIGHT HERE<<-

You may not have infections on your computer, but if you would like us to check please post the requested logs below.

If you haven’t already done so, please run the Malwarebytes Support Tool and then attach the logs in your next reply:
NOTE: The tools and the information obtained is safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  • Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • Once the file is downloaded, open your Downloads folder/location of the downloaded file
  • Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  • Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  • You will be presented with a page stating, "Welcome to the Malwarebytes Support Tool!"
  • Click the Advanced Options link

  • Click the Gather Logs button

  • A progress bar will appear and the program will proceed to gather troubleshooting information from your computer
  • Upon completion, click OK
  • A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  • Please attach the file in your next reply. Before submitting your reply, be sure to enable "Notify me of replies" like so:
