Google Chrome incompatible application message

Hello all,

I have recently noticed that Google Chrome browser version 68.0.3440.84 (64 bit) has been displaying periodically a message that my Malwarebytes version 3.5.1.2522 needs to be updated or removed due to it being incompatible. 

So I disabled the Chrome Browser settings in the advanced protection area of Malwarebytes as well as the protected applications area to no success so I re-enabled those settings and disabled the web protection and exploit protection and the message is now gone......obviously this is totally unacceptable so I am throwing this out to the forums to see if anyone else has experienced this issue and to find out if a resolution has been found.

PS...I also enabled Beta versions and tried to update to a Beta version in hopes of a fix but unfortunately there was no Beta version to be had.

PSS......I have also submitted a ticket with the support tool and will post the results to this post if nobody else has posted a resolution by the time tech support resolves my ticket.

If you haven’t already done so, please run the Malwarebytes Support Tool and then attach the logs in your next reply:

  • Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  • Once the file is downloaded, open your Downloads folder/location of the downloaded file
  • Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  • Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  • You will be presented with a page stating, "Welcome to the Malwarebytes Support Tool!"
  • Click the Advanced Options link

  • Click the Gather Logs button

  • A progress bar will appear and the program will proceed to gather troubleshooting information from your computer
  • Upon completion, click OK
  • A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  • Please attach the file in your next reply. Before submitting your reply, be sure to enable "Notify me of replies" like so:

Greetings,

Several users have reported this issue.  It seems to be a problem with Chrome somehow becoming corrupt.  Please follow the instructions in this post to see if that corrects the issue.
