FreeCommander tagged as ransomware

Recommended Posts

Just got a pop up from Malwarebytes saying something to the effect there was a ransomware issue.  Turned out to be a freeware app called FreeCommander (like a files Explorer), which is odd as I had it open and was using it at the time of the warning.

Cannot do anything with the file, nor is it listed in the Quarantine window?  Not sure how to proceed?  I have been using the app for years.  Won't allow me to attach or zip the file (FreeCommander.exe) to send to you.  Attached it the report:

Hi @Clutch Cargo - thanks for your report. This has already been fixed as a false positive and should no longer be detected. To restore function to the file, temporarily disable the Ransomware Protection, and then re-enable it. That should free it up for use.
