To my knowledge, I have not installed any Malwarebytes browser add on. I don't even know what that would be. What is it called?

Maybe I should add more detail to this in the interest of figuring out what's going on.

On my Dell dekstop, there are actually 3 programs listed as incompatible with Chrome. They are: RocketDock, WinPatrol and Malwarebytes.

On my laptop there is only Malwarebytes listed.

I can't see what any of these programs would have to do with my browser and I haven't installed any add ons for any of them.

I have WinPatrol on this laptop without any problems. My version is 35.5.2017.8 Plus. I don't know what the add-on is called because I usually do not use beta versions. My Chrome version is Version 67.0.3396.99

This error comes from the installed version of Malwarebytes, not the browser extension (which I don't see in the logs).

@Nikilet can you try the following to see if it helps at all:

  1. Open Malwarebytes
  2. Navigate to Settings -> Protection
  3. Disable Exploit Protection
  4. Relaunch Chrome

If that doesn't work, please try again, but this time disable Web Protection instead of Exploit Protection.

With web protection disabled, it is no longer listed as incompatible with Chrome.

I notice that RocketDock is no longer listed, but WinPatrol is. Seems to me like this is a Chrome problem but I can't seem to get an answer from them.

Been reading some info about Win Patrol. Doubt if you will ever get an answer from them.  The owner has not been active since last year.

None of their programs have been updated for a long time.

Thanks. We are tracking down some issues we have noticed, one thing you can try is updating to the beta version of Malwarebytes. You can do this by going to Settings -> Application, scrolling down and turning on the Beta option. Then scroll up and click "Install Application Updates".

If you don't want to install the beta, you can wait until we fully release this version.

Maurice: I performed both tasks you mentioned on both machines. There were no items found in the MBAM scans. It seems like Chrome is performing better on my laptop at this point. Haven't checked it out on my desktop yet. Thanks for this information.

As mentioned above, there is no way to resolve this currently. There is nothing in Malwarebytes actively causing Chrome any issues, but Chrome has a list of applications that have had issues in the past and they recommend removing them if Chrome crashes for any reason. For now, the only solution is to ignore the message and wait for an update from Google.

This is so weird. I'm using the latest version of Chrome as well as MB 3 and can go to that website with no problem. I have also never gotten that warning from Chrome to remove MB3, although it says MB 3 and my AV are incompatible.

This Chrome feature is still being A/B tested, so not all users get it. On top of that, it only shows up the next time Chrome starts after it crashes.

I too an experiencing similar behavior . What I have found this am is that when I browse to a certain website , bostonherald.com , I get those pop up video's ( I get them on every damned website now too but this particular site for some reason , I have more trouble than others )  . When I click the video off ,  ( Close the video ) thats when I get  my browser to freeze ! The behavior changes as it freezes then releases a mostly after a page change but continues to freeze . What I just discovered this am as that when I do NOT click off the video , the page remains stable and I do NOT get the malwarebytes page stating malwarebytes is causing an issue !! So i8t seems like it could be related to the pop up videos and other garbage on the pages causing the issues , at least for me ! So now the question , does Malwarebytes scan these ads when they are shut off and cause the issue or is it something else ?

Hi to everyone, I had a BSD today and after reboot I opened chrome and this message appeared, where "Malwarebytes version" is listed as incompatible. It is not harmless, as it is causing my whole computer to freeze and restart, hence BSD. Attached is the mbst results if anyone is willing to take a look. Thanks.

The issue you are experiencing actually has nothing to do with Google Chrome (or their false claims of incompatibility with Malwarebytes; for more on that topic please refer to this article: Google Chrome Showing Alerts About Incompatible Applications as well as the info here: Bitdefender Disables Anti-Exploit Monitoring in Chrome After Google Policy Change).  Your logs show that you have component update 1.0.391 which is known to have this issue with BSODs.  This was fixed in the most recent component update version 1.0.421 so to install that, open Malwarebytes and navigate to Settings>Application and click on the Install Application Updates button then allow it to download and install any available updates and restart your system once it completes (you can verify when it is done by looking under Settings>About and checking the Component package version: field which should show 1.0.421 once it is up to date).

If that fails or it doesn't update for some reason then you can try downloading the installer directly and installing it over the top of your existing version by downloading and running it from here.

Once you have the latest build installed the BSODs should no longer occur, however please let us know if they do or if you have any other problems after updating.
