Cannot get rid of QIP

Hi

I have a search engine hijacker program somehow installed. It is called QIP. It becomes your search engine whether you like it or not. At any rate it is a bad one. According to my research, Malwarebytes is supposed to get rid of this one. (I have the premium version).

I ran a scan (full) and it did nothing. Not even detected. I am running Windows 10, my browser is Mozilla Firefox just updated and my Malware is updated as well.

What do I need to do?

Thank you for your help

Pieter

Greetings,

I'm sorry you're having issues with this hijacker, but hopefully we'll be able to get it cleaned up quickly so that you don't have to deal with it messing with your browser any longer.

To start, please run the special build of Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit Beta as instructed in this topic.  It includes a download link and instructions on how to use it.  After you scan, if it finds anything have it remove it then reboot to complete the removal process.

Once that's done, please run ADWCleaner and do the same, performing a scan and having it remove anything it finds then restarting your system to complete the removal process.

If the issue still persists then please follow the instructions in this topic and then create a new thread in the malware removal area describing your issue and including the logs and information as instructed in that topic by clicking here and one of our malware removal specialists will assist you in checking and cleaning the system of any remaining threats and PUPs.

I suspect that either there may be other infections on the system keeping the browser hijacker there, or it may be a new variant that Malwarebytes does not yet detect/remove.  Either way we'll get you fixed up so that you don't have to deal with it any more.
