Issues with Malwarebytes

Recommended Posts

I seem to have several issues with Malwarebytes (premium).

Every time it scans I can no longer type, the keyboard quits working.  Also it routinely cuts off my external drive which is marked no scanning.  I seem to be having more and more problems with it and I am at the point of considering some other virus protection.

Greetings,

I'm sorry that you're having trouble with Malwarebytes.  To start, if you wouldn't mind, please provide the following logs for the Support and Development teams in case there is a bug here that they need more information on so that they may hopefully fix it.  This will also help us to see what's going on with your system and Malwarebytes installation so that we can better determine what might be causing the issues you're experiencing:

  1. Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Accept the EULA and click Advanced Options on the main page (not Get Started)
  3. Click the Gather Logs button, and once it completes, attach the zip file it creates on your desktop to your next reply

Next, I have a suggestion that may help since the problem seems to be mostly related to performance/CPU usage.  Please open Malwarebytes and navigate to Settings>Application and beneath where it says Impact of Scans on System select the option Lower the priority of manual scans to improve multitasking.  Once that's done you may try a scan to see if it helped at all.

Additionally, if you have any antivirus installed, then it would probably be a good idea to configure exclusions for Malwarebytes within the AV if you haven't already as this may also help with performance.  The files which should be excluded from your AV's real-time protection are listed in this support article.

Please let me know how it goes and if there is anything else that we might assist you with.

Thanks
