Jeemag Posted June 19, 2018 ID:1251198 Share Posted June 19, 2018 MWB exclusions wizard stops responding when I attempt to exclude a folder. c:\Programme Files (x86)/NordVPN/ c:\Programme Files (x86)/NordVPN/NordPVN.exe is already excluded to prevent MWB flagging perfectly legal outgoing operations initiated by this executable. (Windows 7 Pro MWB Premium v??? - up-to-date) Regards Cheemag

exile360 Posted June 19, 2018 ID:1251322 Share Posted June 19, 2018 Greetings, If you are trying to create a Web Exclusion (i.e. the Exclude an Application that Connects to the Internet) to prevent Malwarebytes from blocking any connections to or from anything inside that folder then unfortunately this is not possible. That type of exclusion does not accept folders the way that malware exclusions do (which are used to prevent Malwarebytes from detecting anything within a folder as malware). You can only exclude individual .EXE files (they must be executables, no other file types can be excluded from the Web Protection component). Now, with that said, if you are attempting to exclude a folder from scans and Malware Protection then you should be able to do so, so if that is where it is becoming unresponsive (i.e. when selecting the Exclude a File or Folder option in the Exclusions wizard) then please let us know as that would be a problem. Jeemag Posted June 20, 2018 Author ID:1251392 Share Posted June 20, 2018 Good Morning, I have two confusing instructions here. The NordVPN application did not trigger any warnings this morning so perhaps the exclusion of the executable has finally worked. It's nothing to do with the scan, which comes up clean. The VPN executable needs to send data to Cloudfare which was seen as malicious - I don't know why. It's not, although the action could be interpreted as malicious. However it doesn't bother my security application, Kaspersky 2019 ! Regards Cheemag
exile360 Posted June 20, 2018 ID:1251394 Share Posted June 20, 2018 OK, good. Yes, what you're trying to do is exclude an application from Web Protection. An entire folder cannot be excluded that way which explains why it wouldn't allow you to do so. You can only exclude individual executables that way. If the issue does return please let us know. Thanks
