Hello Experts

I have sppsvc.exe restarting every 60 seconds. The first 25-30 seconds it uses 24.8-25% CPU and them becomes idle for the remaining time.

This is the only place I see anyone has resolved this problem without disabling the server via registry. BTW, when it is disabled, all MS apps no longer work. Exp: "Microsoft office can't find your license for this application. A repair attempt was unsuccessful or was cancelled." I also get a watermark on desktop.

I have run Farbar tool and attached the files:

FRST.txt

Addition.txt

I have been building and repairing PC's as a hobby for over 18 years. I rarely run into something I cannot figure out. This however is :(

I thank you for any assistance you can offer.

Thanks

Eric

Don't use any temporary file cleaners unless requested - this can cause data loss and make a recovery difficult.

Please download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool here and save it to your desktop. Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  1. Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to the disclaimer.
  2. Press the Scan button.

  3. It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach or copy and paste it to your reply.
  4. The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). If you've run it before it may not and you may need to select it manually.

Please Note the Following:

  • One of our expert helpers will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.
  • Refrain from making any further changes to your computer (such as Install/Uninstall programs, using special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc...) unless advised by a malware removal helper. Doing so can result in system changes which may hinder the attempts by a helper to clean your machine.
  • Do not 'bump' or add a reply to your topic once it is started. Topics which appear to have replies are considered to have a helper assisting them and may be overlooked, resulting in a longer waiting period for help
  • If you're using Peer 2 Peer software such as uTorrent or similar, please completely disable it from running while being assisted here.

Please download the attached Fixlist.txt file to  the same folder where the Farbar tool is running from.
The location is listed in the 3rd line of the FRST.txt log you have submitted.

Run FRST and click Fix only once and wait.

The tool will create a log (Fixlog.txt) please post it to your reply.

Please post the log and let me know if the problem persists.

It seemed to take a while to process, so i stepped away for a bit. How long it actually took, I do not know. Here is the Fixlog.txt

Fixlog.txt

While it seems it has resolved the sppsvc issue, All chrome profiles have been cleared? Just lost all history and opened tabs!!! This was not what I had planned for!

The Farbar program was run from this Download folder.
C:\Users\Eric\Downloads

Either in that folder or under the FRST folder if you have createdd one you should be able to restore the entries that weremoved.
If what you were looking for is not there then they were possibly in a \Temp folder and they have been deleted. They may be in the Recycle bin.

Hi nasdaq,

While I thank you in solving the main problem, I have already searched for the history of 3 different profiles I had within Chrome. They are gone. There is nothing in the download folder. It has not flushed all user data, but it has cleared open tabs, window location settings and history. If I had a warning that it would do this (it also did it to firefox, but I have a session saver there so it was restorable), I would have copied the profile folders for restoration. I guess I just have to imagine I had a hard drive failure with no backup (which I didnt have for the chrome profiles). My fault on this.

Hi,

Sorry about that snafu, I will contact the Owner of the program and see what can be done to prompt before folders are emptied.

Never new that some of the Chrome profiles were also targeted.

I suspect these are the profile you are talking about.

CHR DefaultProfile: Profile 2
CHR Session Restore: Profile 2 -> is enabled.
CHR Profile: C:\Users\Eric\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default [2018-06-17]

Again sorry about that and I will follow up with the owner.

Yes. I have 3 profiles and all 3 were effected.

Note, the folders were not emptied. Bookmarks, plugins and passwords remained. It just cleared History, window position settings and session (all open tabs). It may have cleared more, but the loss of the open tabs and history was such a loss that I have no energy to find out what else went missing.
