Lenovo G50-45 slooooow boot

After the latest Windows 10 update, my machine started randomly shutting down when it should have only gone to sleep.  It has also started taking a long time to reboot, seeming to hang up on the splash screen or a blank black screen with the spinning wait wheel for a cursor (still moves with the mouse).  If I'm patient, it usually eventually gets to windows.  MBAM doesn't seem to find anything.

Please help me determine if this is a malware problem or if there is something else wrong with my machine.

The logs do not show any signs of an infection. What ever is causing the issue would appear to be due to something else. Shutting down the computer is not a normal tactic of malware either.

I would recommend that you run a hard drive test using the software from the vendor of your hard drive. Also, check and monitor the temperature of the computer to make sure it's not overheating.

Good to know, thanks for the insight.

I'll do some hardware checks on the drive and fan to be sure, but I'm suspecting a Windows problem.  While poking around I found a log that indicated that the last Windows update actually failed.  If I can't get it to compete I'll probably just do a fresh install.
