How to make scan silent?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I receive bothersome daily prompts saying my computer has been scanned and is clean but I cannot find any way of making my daily scan "silent".

How can a scheduled scan be made silent please?

Thanks

Hi Pipps--

Thanks for your feedback.

Currently there is no way to suppress the Scan Complete message when no threats are detected.  But we've actually received the request to allow the scan results to be silent from others.

We hope to add that notification to the list of notifications that obey the "Show Malwarebytes notifications in the Windows System Tray" setting in Application Settings. Alternatively, there have been discussions to build out even more granular control over all program notifications.

So hopefully you'll see this enhancement added in an future Malwarebytes update soon.

Hi @Pipps,

In the latest version of Malwarebytes, you can suppress the "Scan complete" notification by disabling the, "Show all notifications in Windows notification area" setting found in Settings -> Notifications.

After months of Malwarebytes again running silently, it has this weekend begun to interfere with my work again.

I am now receiving daily prompts to say that it has completed a scan and that I should view the results.

The results are always just tracking cookies from Chrome and I have no interest in viewing these.

In "Settings > Notifications", the first option to "Show all notifications..." is already disabled.

How do I prevent these new and invasive prompts from interrupting my work?

@Pipps Welcome back.

Malwarebytes does not detect cookies.

We need to get information from this machine in order to have the proper detail to help you forward.
NOTE: The tools and the information obtained is safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

    Download Malwarebytes Support Tool

Once the file is downloaded, open your Downloads folder/location of the downloaded file
    Double-click mb-support xxx.xx.exe to run the report
You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.

Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
You will be presented with a page stating, "Get Started!"

Do NOT use the button “Start repair” !
Click the Advanced tab on the left column

    Click the Gather Logs button

A progress bar will appear and the program will proceed with getting logs from your computer

Upon completion, click a file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop. Click OK
Please attach the ZIP file in your next reply.

Rather than investigate information from my computer, would you please simply tell me how to disable these notifications?

Don't know why it is alerting. If you've made no changes and you're using scheduled scans then normally it should be silent.

As @LiquidTension said above. To remain silent you will need to disable all alerting. I have requested that an option to set a scheduled task include it being silent for a future build.

As I have said above several times, "Show all notifications..." is already disabled.

I do not have any schedule setup. I have never attempted to setup any schedule.

These unnecessary interruptions are making me consider ending my subscription.

How do I stop your software from repeatedly notifying of Chrome PUPs scanned?

Now that makes more sense. Please follow the following guide to deal with that issue.

Thank you for the feedback on this.

We have a request filed to evaluate whether it would be feasible to separate the "Scan complete" notification from other notification types. This would allow you to suppress "Scan complete" whilst retaining all other notifications. We'll post to this topic if this is something we address in a future product update.

I would think it should be possible to silence all green status notifications, that way you could provide an option to only display alerts which indicate a real problem and potential action/decision on the part of the user.  That would disable the web blocks too, which I know some users would appreciate (though diagnostically, such blocks may be useful for determining the presence of PUPs in a browser or hidden Trojans or other malware on the system).

That feature already exists. Disabling the "Show all notifications in Windows notification area" setting will disable all green colour-coded notifications. Disabling orange and red notifications is not possible.

That's right, I forgot about that.  I kept thinking it disabled all notifications, not just the green ones.
