I have run daily Malwarebytes scan, nothing found. I have run Windows Defender scan, nothing found. I have looked at Processes, Task Manager, Registry, probably other locations, nothing found. Malwarebytes keeps intercepting the intruder, but only as something outbound from Firefox.

I am attaching the requested files; perhaps you can find the culprit and advise me how to remove it.

First, if you haven't done so, please run a Threat Scan with the latest version of Malwarebytes. This may resolve your malware infection issue without the need for additional support. Click "Reveal Hidden Contents" below for details:

Malwarebytes can detect and remove most malware with no further actions required for free.

  4. Click Start Scan

Next, if you're still experiencing issues after running Malwarebytes, then technical logs will be required to assist you. Click "Reveal Hidden Contents" below and follow the instructions to run the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool:

Spoiler

Don't use any temporary file cleaners unless requested - this can cause data loss and make a recovery difficult.

Please download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool here and save it to your desktop. Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

  1. Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to the disclaimer.
  2. Press the Scan button.

  3. It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
  4. The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). If you've run it before it may not and you may need to select it manually.

Finally, attach the Malwarebytes Threat Scan, FRST.txt and Additional.txt logs to your reply. Before submitting your reply, be sure to enable "Notify me of replies" like so: notify me.jpeg

Please Note the Following:

  • One of our expert helpers will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.
  • Refrain from making any further changes to your computer (such as Install/Uninstall programs, using special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc...) unless advised by a malware removal helper. Doing so can result in system changes which may hinder the attempts by a helper to clean your machine.
  • Do not 'bump' or add a reply to your topic once it is started. Topics which appear to have replies are considered to have a helper assisting them and may be overlooked, resulting in a longer waiting period for help
  • If you're using Peer 2 Peer software such as uTorrent or similar, please completely disable it from running while being assisted here.

Thanks, but I am a bit puzzled: You ask me to create the standard files, which I have already submitted. Do I need to do that again?

I  would also point out that the link to the file for resetting default browsing settings is marked as being out-of-date. I am not at all sure if this still works properly  with current Fx releases.

Thirdly, you have provided a link to fixlist.txt, and I have no idea what I might do with that. Explanation?

Hi,

Take the time to look at my instructions.

If at any time you need help to continue the fix let me know.

I read your instructions, and I asked you to explain them. Instead, you wrote that I should read your  instructions, which is what I had done and which caused me to ask you to  answer the questions I  had based on my having read your instructions.

Let me, therefore, ask that you read my reply to your first reply to me and answer my questions.

To put this another way, yes, I need help to continue the fix, which is why I asked you three questions, none of which you answered.

I did not ask you to createa any file.
If you download the fixlist.txt attached place it in the Folder were the Farbar program is running. Open the Farbar program and hit the Fix button.

It's your call if you want to reset Firefox.

If After the restart of the computer the problem persists you will have to reset as suggested.

I opened the two links this morning and I found nothing about the obsolete links.
The instructions may have changed with the latest version of Firefox not sure.

Revised instructions received, read, understood, carried out;  thank  you. The resulting log file shows that a few items could not be removed, a few were not found.

As far as the link you provided to the instructions for resetting Firefox, it clearly has this text near the top of the file:

" This article is no longer maintained, so its content might be out of date." That is why I stated that I  was not certain the file pertains to the latest Firefox.
