I suspect Malwarebytes is causing an issue, though I am not 100% sure it is the cause, so I hope someone can help me...

First, I have Windows 10 v1803 installed.  And Malwarebytes v3.5.1.

The issue is that I have a program installed from the Windows Store called Move Mouse.  (It moves the mouse pointer between times I specify, so my screen saver won't go on.)  For the last week or so, I've noticed that when it starts at boot up, after a few seconds, it then is exited.  I suspect Malwarebytes might be causing it to exit because when I restarted my system a few times with Malwarebytes auto-start disabled, the Move Mouse program remained loaded.  If I *manually* start the Move Mouse program, even with Malwarebytes running, it remains loaded and functions as expected.  Though there comes a point where it again is exited--not sure when, I just notice in the morning that it is no longer running.  However, I have never received a notification from Malwarebytes that it detected anything wrong with the Move Mouse program.

I also want to point out that I've had Malwarebytes and Move Mouse installed together for over a year, and never experienced an issue until recently.  Two things have changed right before the issue started...

(1) I got a new computer, and had to reinstall all my software.  (Though the version of Windows and the version of Move Mouse on my new computer is the same as they were on my old one.)

...and...

(2) When I went to install Malwarebytes onto my new computer, the version I installed was v3.5.1, whereas on my old computer, I had the previous version installed (v3.4.?).

So I don't know if the new version of Malwarebytes is somehow causing this issue, or if it's just coincidence.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Move Mouse, but I didn't fix the issue.

Any help anyone can provide would be appreciated.

Hello, since it appears v3.51 of MBAM ties into the OS more than previous versions, you might want to place mbam.exe into your startup folder and disable the auto-start within the MBAM program and see if this helps any. It will start up a little differently, behaviour wise in the OS boot

Thanks for the suggestion.  I gave it a try, but even starting MBAM from a shortcut placed into the startup folder causes the Move Mouse program to exit.

Sorry to hear this. I gotta say, when it comes to MBAM's anti-ransomware plugin, it really reaches far into the system and causes delimna's for many things. I'm really at a lost if its due to this feature of MBAM.

You might want to try an 'oldie' for a simulated mouse mover. Its called Mouse Jiggler and works likewise..You might have to use compatibility mode on the exe tho.

First off, it's not recommended to put the mbam.exe shortcut in your startup folder. The service handles this and all that will do is force the UI to show up.

As for the issue at hand, did this happen prior to 3.5.1? Do you get any detection reports from Malwarebytes? How about if you turn off just Ransomware Protection under Settings -> Protection, does it help the situation at all?

This did not happen before I installed v3.5.1.  And, no, I don't get any detection report from MBAM.  I will give your suggestion a try and report back if it happens again.

I think this topic can be ignored.  I disabled each of the MBAM protections one at a time, and the MM program continued to exit upon restart.  I then yet again rebooted with MBAM set to not auto-start, and the MM program still exited.

So it must have been a coincidence when the MM program remained loaded the other day when I rebooted with MBAM set to not auto-start.  So it's something else on my computer causing MM to exit.  Not sure how to figure that out, as there's nothing mentioned in Event Logs.  But this seems to be a question for another forum.

Thanks for all your help, and sorry to waste your time.
