Malwarebytes Premium 3.4.5.2467 RTP not starting

Recommended Posts

Hello Malwarebytes Gods and Goddesses,

I recently got a new Clevo manufactured gaming PC and just slapped on Malwarebytes to add to my malware fighting arsenal. Upon installation completion, I entered in my license key, and noticed that all of my other RTP modules were enabled except "Exploit protection". It continues to remain greyed out, and does not allow me to enable it no matter what I do or have tried...

I have done a regular uninstall in "add or remove programs". Reinstalled, issue persisted, so I used the MBT clean option to do a thorough clean and the issue still persists. I continued by exiting the MBAM app and confirming with 'yes' in UAC, and ran the following command as administrator exactly as "SC Delete MBAMWebProtection". Administrator Command Prompt responded with "The specified service does not exist as an installed service". Any other ideas? I have attached my mbst grab results and mbst clean results log files in the body of this forum message. Thank you ahead of time for your response.

Are you using Kaspersky for protection as well?

Alot of your installation files were missing. Specifically the one for Exploit protection, but there were others too I would try a uninstall and install again to see if that helps..

Hello pbl4333,

I only have MBAM installed with no other AV suites. Windows Defender is running normally as well. I ran the clean option and re-installed once more, and am still experiencing the issue.

I have no idea or clue why Malwarebytes is not installing all software-related files on my computer.

Greetings,

There are a few known issues with Windows 10, and that's likely why you're experiencing these problems.  First, if Fast Start is enabled, the tray icon for Malwarebytes protection won't load.  Second, if Device Guard is enabled then Exploit Protection won't work.

You can try the beta version 3.5 to see if it resolves the issue, however it is likely that you'll need to disable Device Guard for now as I don't believe the beta includes this fix, though it is planned for a future release of Malwarebytes.

Hello exile360,

I have disabled fast startup and my MBAM protection tray icon now displays successfully at each boot. Referencing Device Guard, I navigated to the Local Group Policy editor and saw that 'turn on virtualization based security' setting was on 'not configured' mode as well as the 'Deploy Windows Defender Application Control'. Thank you for making me aware of these bugs. Is there a specific section that I need to navigate to ensure that it is disabled in not only the local group policy editor? System information shows it as running, should I just wait for the next release? What would be your professional recommendation?

"Virtualization-based security" is Running.

Thanks!

Sounds good, thanks :)

Also, just so you know, the Product team is aware of the issue and already have the Developers working on a permanent solution to make Malwarebytes fully compatible with the new technologies implemented in the most recent Windows 10 updates, including Device Guard so it's only a matter of time before they work together without having either one disabled.

Perfect! I have tried disabling the device guard and that works for now. I will wait for the update to come out. I appreciate your devoted and high quality customer service! Let the dev team know that I appreciate all that they do as well despite microsoft's constant windows hiccups and bugs lol.
