Hey.
I'm using free Malwarebytes 3.4.5.2467
(Windows 7 64bit) and I have a problem with the scan time. When I perform a full scan of the system disk it takes many hours.

The main place that seems to affect dramatically on scanning time is Windows/Winsxs/*
My winsxs folder is
14.9GB
72061 files
189444 folders
You can not reduce this folder. And MB can scan up to 6 hours for the entire drive.

Is there any way to do something about it?

Hello and Welcome!

Yes if you do a full scan (custom scan) it will take hours to perform the scan, how long exactly depends on what you have selected, for example rootkit scan and archive scan options will increase the scan times as well as how much data is on your drive.

That being said, all that is really needed/recommended is a normal Threat scan, which will finish up much quicker and scan the most common places malware likes to hide.

A person can reduce the size of this folder, but not delete it, using a built-in Microsoft tool meant for that folder specifically and other temp files.

In Win7 go to your start menu search and type: disk cleanup

After that a window will come out showing the WinSXS folder plus a few other places where its safe to get rid of extra files. You can select whatever you want. I would definitely use this tool if your WinSXS is 15 GB
