Can't receive database update ( Malwarebytes Premium)

Recommended Posts

Over past 10 days or so, I've noticed that I can't get database updates on Malwarebytes Premium :( What may be the reason?

P.S. Just for any case: I'm located in Moscow, Russia

We're getting many reports of this from Russian users and unfortunately it seems like our services are being blocked by Russian ISP's. At this time, you'll need to use a VPN or proxy to get updates.

It's unacceptable for premium users.

How about you develop a workaround for this problem in the next update? Mirror for update server, for example.

While it lasts, I can recommend free VPN by SumRando Just tried to update database using it, works fine

Although, you are right in general: if I use a paid Premium version, I'd prefer not to have headaches of this kind...

We are looking into possible solutions, but there's nothing stopping ISP's from blocking us again and making all that effort pointless. That's not to say we aren't looking for a solution, just that it's not as simple as spinning up mirror servers

I don't think that they are trying to block you in particular. This is just a side effect of Telegram blocking.

I get access to your site and forum without problems. Just put update server mirror in the same IP range.

Unfortunately it's not that simple. They're run on different servers with different capabilities (like scaling). If it was that simple, we'd have put a solution in place already. Like I mentioned though ,we are working towards a solution and hope to be able to provide updates to those users as soon as possible

Glad to hear that VPN works ok for updating, but do keep in mind tho that free VPN's have to get their money somehow to stay in operations, and they do this by the data you give them when browsing. Your Data is big $$$. Where as, a paid version of a VPN often times avoid this data grabbing because they don't need the money nearly as much. Just a thought on VPN's. Personally I use a VPN that's paid, but also where it offers a connection script that allows port 443, and TCP/IP. This port is also known as SSL, https. This fools the web sites and ISP's into thinking you're NOT using a VPN and thus, no blocking. Its easy for web sites to know you're using a VPN judging from the port #'s used, and using UDP for the protocol.
