If you haven't done so already, please run these two tools and then attach the logs in your next reply:

NOTE: The tools and the information obtained is safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  • Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)
    1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
    2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
    3. Press the "Scan" button
    4. This will produce two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
      • Leave the log files in the current location, they will be automatically collected by mb-check once you complete the next set of instructions
  • MB-Check
    1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
    2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, press "Enter" to accept the EULA then click "OK"
    3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
      • This file will include the FRST logs generated from the previous set of instructions
      • Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

One of our experts will be able to assist you shortly.

Greetings,

Please do the following so that we can get a look at what is going on with your Malwarebytes installation:

  1. Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Accept the EULA and click Advanced Options on the main page (not Get Started)
  3. Click the Gather Logs button, and once it completes, attach the zip file it creates on your desktop to your next reply

Also, do you have any reason to suspect that the system might be infected at all?  For example, are any of your web browsers having any issues/showing ads/pop-ups that they normally wouldn't or anything like that?  I ask because one possible cause is infection and the tools I recommend depend on what's causing the problem obviously.

I don't know what is up with my system.  It is just running incredibly slowly all of a sudden and I am just trying to figure it out.  I will run the support tool above and follow the instructions.

Thanks, please follow the instructions in this topic to run a special build of Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit.  Have it remove anything it detects and then restart the system if prompted to complete the threat removal process.

Once that's done, go ahead and do the same with ADWCleaner, again, allowing it to remove anything it finds and then restarting the system to finish the removal process if anything was found.

Once that's done, try running Malwarebytes again and let me know how it goes, and if it still won't open, then go ahead and get me those other logs if you can, assuming the tool will run.

Thanks
