Recommended Posts

Hi Malwarebytes support team

Our company's product  "Texas Hold'em" released in Thailand. Application download link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boyaa.androidmarkettaiyu . We've received users feedback Malwarebytes prompted that "Texas Hold'em" is is a malicious software  when open the app. But they installed the app from Play Store and the app still available on Play Store. So I need your help to check the problem. Thanks,

Hi @Anan_boyaa,

After further review of your app by our researchers, the detection stands.  This is due to the fact that your app uses SMS to register devices.  We typically label such activities as PUP.Riskware.SMSReg.  Also, the use of SMS to make payments as seen in the class com.bluepay is concerning and could be considered PUP.Riskware.SmsPay.  However, we choose to give your app a less threatening name of Adware.Boyad.

Adware is considered a form of PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program). Please be aware that PUP (https://blog.malwarebytes.com/threats/mobile-pup/) is NOT malware, and is at the discretion of our users to ignore.

For further information, please review Malwarebytes PUP policy: https://www.malwarebytes.com/pup/

Best regards,
Nathan
