My name is Lina,

I have been using Mbam for around 6 months. recently every time I start a scan, I am asked permission to open a raw disc option. This is a recent request, I have found nothing in updates to suggest that I should give permission for mbam to access this .

Is this a required part of any scan , as none of my other antivirus or Sas have asked for this permission..

So far I have denied it, but I worry that I may need to give mbam this concesion.

Could some one please advise if this is a necessary event to allow access.

Is the notification you are receiving from your firewall or a HIPS software? If it is, then you should allow it as this sounds like MBAM is trying to get raw disk access to be able to scan for rootkits, which is a type of malware that MBAM scans for.
