@wodatpc

Do the following for me:

  1. Open Task Manager
    1. Right-click on Taskbar > Click "Start Task Manager"
  2. Go to "Processes" tab and hit "Show processes from all users" (towards the bottom) - If this button is not there, continue to next step
  3. Click on the "Applications" tab in Task Manager
  4. Open AdwCleaner and get it into a crashed state
    1. When the window letting you know it crashed shows up, don't close it or AdwCleaner
  5. With the crash window and AdwCrashed still open, go to Task Manager and locate "Malwarebytes AdwCleaner"
  6. Right-click it and select "Create Dump File"
  7. When it is done creating, look on the dialog to see where it was placed
    1. Usually Windows will place it in %temp% by default
      1. To open %temp%, click 'Windows'+R keys together to get a "Run" dialog to show up
      2. Type in "%temp%" (no quotes) in the dialog and hit OK
      3. Locate "adwcleaner*.dmp"
  8. When you have located "adwcleaner.dmp", zip it and copy it to the Desktop to make uploading easier. Upload it to www.wetransfer.com and give us the link (hit 3 dots to get link option)
    1. To zip it, right-click on the adwcleaner.dmp file go to "Sent To" and select "Compressed folder"

Thank you very much

@wodatpc

Would you be able to get another dump using Process Explorer. We were unable to get the information we needed with the dump provided.

  1. Get Process Explorer from here
  2. Extract to a preferred location and run procexp.exe as administrator
    1. Right-click > Run as Administrator
  3. Run AdwCleaner and get it into a crashed state (leave it open, as before)
  4. Go back to Process Explorer and locate the adwcleaner process
  5. Right-click on the process > Go to "Create Dump" > Create Full Dump
  6. Save it where it can be found easily and zip it (as before)
  7. Upload to www.wetransfer.com

Thank you very much for your help

Hi @wodatpc,

I need some more information to understand the origin of the issue:

  1. Is this crash systematic, or it's random?
  2. What are the steps to reproduce it?
  3. When does it crash? Is it in the scan process, in the cleaning process, after cleaning and before rebooting or after the system is rebooted? Or maybe, does it happen when the "We'd love your feedback" dialog is displayed?

Thank you!

@Elisabeth

..the crashes are systematic to 95 % - other than i kill or close with the taskmanager any task (1 - 5).

If i promptly start the adwcleaner_7.1.1 behind a random Taskkill, than is typical running without crash - over 50% successful working.

This Time-Window is any seconds - or up to work with a other Task-Aplikation go in the Focus Window.

While Searching for a error "touch with another task" i didn't found a reproducible situation with taskkill (one or any) random task.

The situation it's always the same - exact systematic  - independent of the previousor or parallel processes (boot, clear, Task in focus or not, behind..) - excepted  -> see abov line the second line.

For the crash moment show the Picture:   after database-UP the crashpoint is exact --> beginning  "Loud Moduls"

This is like a hacked 32bit ..\system32\msvcrt.dll  - but the file is clean - original Microsoft.

Thanks for your Help

@dcollins

continue the post in the Macinero thread:

in the Post 18 + (it's hide) to vbarytskyy i have send a full Dump File with the 32 bit version procexp.exe .

In this Crash-Session was only a access to the \system32\msvrt.dll:

5af1478962b7f_msvcrt.dll3264.jpg.98b0a201f0757ac7281f6863f3bf6d3c.jpg

This screenshot show the access state 1 hour later - the Crash-Session at 03.05.201.

On the right part you see the 64 bit .dll was not touch (Letzter Zugriff -> last access yesterday)
