Greetings and welcome,

First, to terminate the scan bring up Task Manager by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ESC on your keyboard then click Show processes from all users and click on the Processes tab.  Once there, sort the list by name by clicking on the Image Name column header at the top twice, then scroll down the list until you locate MBAMService.exe and right-click on it and select End Process then click End process when asked for confirmation.  That should terminate the scan.

Next, assuming this system is infected, please try running a special build of Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit as instructed in this topic and see if it is able to complete the scan process and remove any threats that it finds.  Reboot if prompted to complete the removal process then try running a Threat scan with Malwarebytes again to see if it now works properly or not.

Please let me know how it goes.

Thanks

Excellent, I'm glad to be of service :)

If there's anything else we might assist you with please don't hesitate to ask.  Also, should any signs of infection remain on your system or you just want to double-check to make certain that it's clean simply follow the instructions in this topic as best you can then post the logs and requested information in a new topic in the malware removal area by clicking here and one of our trained malware removal specialists will assist you in checking and cleaning the system of any remaining threats and issues.  The help they provide is completely free as is all of the help and support we provide here on the Malwarebytes forums.
