False virus protection apps

Recommended Posts

Last week my wifes laptop got hosed by PC Antivirus 2010 and Windows Spyware Pro. After much noise McAfee had a second level goddess call and three hours later problem solved.

I guess my issue is

a) these apps totally shut down Malwarebytes.

:D Calls for help to this esteemed group went unanswered.

c) reading thru the weeks calls for help indicates that a lot of folks are dealing with the same issues.

My question is, what's Malwarebytes doing to insure it remains a top notch tool? Or, is it being sidelined.

Prevention is number one. There are currently a few infections that once they're on your system they are able to take out even your Anti-Virus products. There are many posts where McAfee, Symantec, Kaspersky, etc. have also been prevented from running.

No single product alone can stop and prevent everything but Malwarebytes in conjunction with a good Anti-Virus product goes a long way towards it.

When it comes to cleaning up from the damage Malwarebytes is one of the best products out there. Being so good has led to increased response times on the forums, but for users with a paid version you can also send support requests to support@malwarebytes.org and someone will assist you.
