Please temporarily disable your Norton Anti-Virus and run the following.

1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.

2. Restart your computer (very important).

3. Download and run this utility. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-clean.exe

4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).

5. After the computer restarts, rechceck and make sure Norton Anti-Virus is still disabled if not then disable it again and install the latest version of MBAM from here. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent if this is a registered version

Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration (if registered). Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.

Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray. If all is okay until Norton starts then you may need to add exclusions to the Norton for MBAM.

Please see the FAQ for an example of setting up exclusions. We don't have one specifically for Norton but you should be able to adapt it if needed.

I don't think this issue has been solved. I've had the same problems opening Malwarebytes, running Online Armor. I'm not willing to disable HIPS protection, as that's the primary reason I use OA. I've deleted all entries relating to mbam in OA, uninstalled Malwarebytes, run the cleaner, rebooted, and reinstalled Malwarebytes with OA turned off, all to no avail. I'm exasperated. For now, I'm simply uninstalling the beast. When you get the problem fixed, let me know.
