    1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop

Greetings and welcome :)

The past generation of Malwarebytes licenses (back when the software was called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware) used a license ID as well as a Key.  It was a mechanism for validating licenses with the old license tracking system, however now since version 3.x a new licensing subsystem has been put in place which only requires a license Key in the new format.  For the sake of backwards compatibility, and since Malwarebytes 3 still honors the old lifetime licenses sold back then to Malwarebytes Anti-Malware users, the option is still present in the license activation screen to enter an ID and Key in the old Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.x format.

Information on activating Malwarebytes can be found here and it mentions the ID in step 3. on that page, and this is also why it mentions that the step may be skipped if all you have is a license key in the modern format.

If you have any more questions or issues please don't hesitate to let us know.

Thanks :)

Thanks you for that quick reply. I already found the above link which in fact mentions the ID, but it only gives a workflow and no explanation. So it's for the sake of backwards compatibility. And if the forum search is working well, your explanation might make it transparent for other new customers.
