Ip Blocking reappears after inactivity

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

MBAM IP blocking pops up once in a while even with no user activity. This makes me believe there is malware on my system already, although both MBAM and my CS antivirus tells me I am clean. I been through a complete reinstall a few months ago because of the virut malware, and just hope that this isnt it.

If you guys can see something I cant and have any suggestions, please let me know. WOuld be great if the IP blocker could help me locate and get rid of malware.

Hi frederik,

MBAM IP blocking pops up once in a while even with no user activity. This makes me believe there is malware on my system already, although both MBAM and my CS antivirus tells me I am clean. I been through a complete reinstall a few months ago because of the virut malware, and just hope that this isnt it.
Which IP is it detecting??

Update MBAM, run a Quick Scan, and post its log.

Next, download DDS by sUBs and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on the DDS icon and let the scan run. When it has run two logs will be produced, please post please post the one that is not minimized.

Hi, and thank you for answering.

Latest IP blocked with no user action taking place is 89.28.47.12

As far as a rip lookup and a google search can tell me this number belong to a baddie, unfortunately.

Dont know if it of any value to you, but I receive an awful lot of IM through Skype, even though my privacy settings are set to not accept anything. Unfortunately it is impossible to disable a request to share data in Skype. If this is a know factor, and if you recommend i deinstall Skype, let me know.

The logs are as follows:

Hi Frederik,

Unfortunately it is impossible to disable a request to share data in Skype.
Try posting on Skype's forum and see if you can suggest that they implement that.

Please use the Internet Explorer browser and click here to use the F-Secure Online Scanner.

  • Click Start Scanning.
  • You should get a notification bar (on top) to install the ActiveX control.
  • Click on it and select to install the ActiveX.
  • Once the ActiveX is installed, you should accept the License terms by clicking OK below to start the scan.
  • In case you are having problems with installing the ActiveX/starting the scan, please read here.
  • Click the Full System Scan button.
  • It will start to download scanner components and databases. This can take a while.
  • The main scan will start.
  • Once the scan has finished scanning, click the Automatic cleaning (recommended) button
  • It could be possible that your firewall gives an alert - allow it, because that's a connection you establish to submit infected files to F-Secure.
  • The cleaning can take a while, so please be patient.
  • Then click the Show report button and Copy/Paste what is present under results in your next reply.

Next, download my Security Check from here or here.

  • Save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Hi again,

Tried to load and run the scanner, but my antivirus came up and said that 3 vira was found, one of the Tolt.339. I guess I should disable my antivirus while running the Fscanner, but it makes me insecure that my antivirus thinks Fscanner is a named virus?

Please advice,

Best regards,

Frederik

Hi frederik,

Did you deliberately disable your Windows Security Center Service?

Navigate to Start --> Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs, and uninstall the following program (if present):

Java™ 6 Update 14

Restart your computer.

Get the latest version of Java.

I don't see malware installed.

Try uninstalling Skype to troubleshoot and see if that is the issue.

Hi, Thank you once again. It is odd, though, that ip numbers like 89.149.236.77 keeps getting blocked.

I have two computers at home, and so far, we've been looking into one of them. I tried to run the same routines on the other machine (called MACHINE2), just to find out if some of the malware could possibly spread through my LAN, and maybe that could be the case that Malwarebytes keep blocking. Maybe this could be of interest to the Malware bytes guys, too?

I am running uTorrent on the other machine, which I know is a big risk. But I also run some protection software, which leaves me with the impression that I should be ok?

I have posted the log files here:

/////////////// Fsecure kept crashing, even when I disabled Comodo antivirus, so I went on to BitDefender, who found something nasty.

Dont know if the above makes any sense, or if I should consider my system "clean". It is weird, though, that some of the "bad" IP's are being blocked (I would say 3 a day now).

Once again, thank you very much for you time,

Best regards,

Frederik

Hi Frederik,

There are currently some major changes planned for the IP Blocking, and if you wouldn't mind waiting, It would be great if you could try out the new version when it is released to see it is still popping up messages all the time.

Let's dig a little deeper to check for malware.

Please visit this webpage for instructions for running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

  • When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt along with a new HijackThis log so we may continue cleaning the system.
